The following two things I have decided to do are a promotional poster and a DVD cover design. If I was going to promote my poster I would put the main star on the front cover like a big Hollywood A list star e.g. Tom Cruise or Will Smith. This is because they would attract attention. Having a legend like Arnold Schwarzenegger with the text on the poster would raise the profile of a film. I would have the title of the film in large bold text like the Avengers coming soon or Sherlock Holmes A Game of Shadows coming soon. That is because it catches the audiences’ eye. I would also put in the poster all the characters that star in the film facing the opposite way from each other and having a menacing look on their faces with guns in their hands because our thriller is an old fashioned thriller like Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho or Vertigo or even Rear Window. For ours because it is called Secrets Through the Keyhole I would have an eye on the centre of the poster with the eye looking through a key hole. For the colours on the poster I would have a white background with the names of the cast and crew and directed by so and so on the bottom of the poster. For my DVD cover I would have it similar to the DVD cover for Psycho but not the original Psycho, the remake where the whole DVD cover has red from front to back with shades of black on the background above from the main font which is the title of the film. I would have produced by the name of the studio and above that I would have directed by Ellie Paterson, Meri Guest or Adam Merchant. On the back of the DVD cover I would have images of the film we made but I would have pictures that didn’t gave much of the plot or story away and I would not do the thing where most company’s show all the best bits and give most of the story away. I would make it so that the target audience wanted to find out more. One of the pictures I would use from our thriller would be a picture of a person being killed or about to die or even show a picture of all the suspects with who is the killer and why did he do it? For the second picture on the far left I would have a comedy picture of the cast and crew doing something funny. Also on the back of the DVD cover I would have special thanks to so and so and I would not put much about the plot on the back of the DVD cover because I would not want to give too much away because me as a film actor producer or film director I would not want to lose sales of the film because I think as an actor or a film director that can be damaging for your career.
